Paula Frederiksen a groundbreaking scholar in the field of Biblical History, in the age of the Tannaim, she held the position of William Goodwin Aurelio Professor of Scripture at Boston University from 1990 to 2010.Now emerita, she has been distinguished visiting professor in the Department of Comparative Religion at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, since 2009. She is courageous and blazed trails against the status quo in her field, who at one time could have your career if you took too seriously the fact that Yeshua of Nazareth was a Jew.

Suddenly, two dogs just come out of nowhere and attack Pepper and their other dog, Mona Lisa. It was so bad that Wayne got bitten trying to protect them, and poor Mona Lisa… well, she didn’t make it. What are some good books if i want to get a look at scholarship into early Christianity and the life and teachings of Jesus? I want some more academic looks at this.
Bart Ehrman’s Jesus Interrupted is more or less my standard recommendation (pretty much anything Ehrman writes is worth reading).
The Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus by Amy Jill-Levine is one that my undergrad advisor highly recommended, but I never read it it personally so can’t speak to it.
Although it’s a more difficult read than Ehrman or Jill-Levine, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews by Paula Frederiksen was really good. The only other book of her I’ve read is Augustine and the Jews (highly recommended), but the other books wiki lists as hers also look fascinating.
